8th Grade Welcome Night

The LJHS PTSA hosts an event in the late Spring for current 8th grade students and their parents (from the public and private schools), to give them an overview of La Jolla High School.  LJHS teachers and staff members speak to the families about academics, clubs, music, drama, and athletics.

Our PTSA's well-coordinated and effective registration process is key to getting the new school year off to a great start. Please volunteer to help out with this fun and important event!  We need at least 45 Volunteers a day so please consider helping out.

Mini College Fair

The RACC (Regional Admission Counselors of California) come to LJHS every year and present to all Juniors and Seniors during fourth 4th period followed by a College Fair during lunch.

AP Workshop

The annual AP Workshop is La Jolla High PTSA’s primary fundraiser.  The College Board contracts with the PTSA to provide hospitality services to teachers attending AP Instruction at La Jolla High School.  The PTSA coordinates and serves a Continental Breakfast, morning snack, and lunch.

Jeff Bucholtz We End Violence Presentations

In a combined effort with the school, ASB, and LJHS Foundation, the LJHS PTSA helps support this engaging presentation to all grade levels that discusses respect, sexual violence, alcohol abuse, and more.

Agents of Change

Trained PTSA volunteers teach upperclassmen how to lead small group workshops on Treating Others with Respect in High School to incoming freshmen during orientation.

Stay informed! PTSA organizes and distributes weekly eNews (sign up here!) to all families as well as important solo eblasts. Information is also distributed through our social media accounts, Instagram and Facebook, as well as on our website.

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Events

Teacher and Staff Appreciation events, including monthly breakfasts are all hosted by the PTSA. The PTSA also provides refreshments for volunteers and participants at various school meetings and programs.

School Tours

PTSA volunteers organize guided school tours monthly during the fall and winter. Volunteers train student leaders to be the tour guides, then after the tour, families are encouraged to attend a PTSA-led presentation about LJHS followed by a question and answer session in the library.

RACC Case Study

The RACC (Regional Admission Counselors of California) Case Study is for the 11th graders and their families. They become a college counselor for the night, and with the help of two RACC counselors, decide which applicant to accept, which one to wait list and who to reject. Super informative!

CPR Training

All La Jolla High Sophomores taking PE second semester receive CPR Training. The PTSA purchases the equipment and supplies and provides volunteers to assist the instructors for the classes.

Lockdown Classroom Supplies

Our PTSA reached out to businesses, parents and community members to donate food, medical supplies, and water, which was then distributed to every classroom on campus in case of another lockdown or emergency.

La Jolla High PTSA is a not-for-profit organization and the nation's premier parent involvement group in schools.  PTSA organizes and manages a variety of programs and services at La Jolla High. Our website and eBlasts keep parents informed, our mini-grants keep classrooms stocked with supplies, and our volunteers keep school events running smoothly.
